    Hi All

I purchased a 55 plate A6 TDI Avant 5 months ago and I am very pleased with her. I plan to keep this car for many years and am wandering what things are likely to go rong so that I can prepare the coppers to plan for such events. I've had audis before and havent had any problem but these days there are so many more features to go wrong it is a bit of a concern.

So my question is are there any other A6 owners out there who have had siginificant failures? mechanically I hoping all will be good but electronics worry me a bit especially the electronic handbrake?

    Regards

I ran a 2005 A6 2.0TDi for three and a half years / 70,000 miles. Problems encountered over that time were a broken EGR valve, a split intercooler, two failed rear parking sensors and continual condensation in the rear light clusters. Other than this, it was very reliable.

    Cheers!

So far I have had a failed MMI screen (the little one in between the speedo and rev counter) and everyone's favourite the condensation in the rear light cluster.

That's on an 08 plate - dread to think how much the screen would have cost as they had to take the whole dash out, glad I bought from a dealer and got the warranty....

I've now hit 82k in my 2.7tdi Avant which I bought as an ex-demo with 4k on the clock and 6 months old.

The only problems I’ve had to date are regarding the rear wash wipe pipe splitting at the hinge to the tailgate. It’s been at Audi numerous times and the last visit cost me £700 for a new control box in the boot which was damaged due to water ingress.

Keep an eye out for moisture around the electronics in the boot compartment.

Apart from that it’s a great car and hopefully good for another 100k

Had nothing serious so far but ther than a corroded rear bulb holder, the normal condensation in the lenses, a minor scuff courtesy of Audi and a smelly washer bottle, all is going well at 49k miles.

Thanks all for your responses. All in all these seem pretty good so far. I'll keep an eye for water in the back though.

    Cheers
