How did you install the switch (pedal up or down) and where did the switch come from?

I only fit genuine VAG switches and these are just inserted and twisted with the pedal at rest, they used to be pedal depressed, twist and release, do that now and they break instantly. The genuine part number is 1C0 945 511 A RDW but I don’t have a Topran number for that switch. Toprans reference says their number is 108 892 but that cross references to a 1J0 945 511 B, C or D only which in VW’s system changed to an E then a 1C0 945 511 A RDW, all very confusing.

The red/yellow to pin 1 is the power feed from fuse 15 and the black/red to pin 4 is the output to the brake lights and to the ECU. Pin 3 is the second circuit feed to the ECU with pin 2 being its power feed. The switch is classed as two separate components, F and F47 with F being the brake light side. The feed from pin 4 on the black/red goes to the multifunction control unit and then out to the brake lights. If you have VCDS you can watch the operation of the F and F47 in one of the ABS measuring blocks, I can’t remember which one though.
