I have a 53 plate 190 Quattro Sport Avant. I want to replace my rear shocks and springs preferably with OEM parts or good quality ones. Any ideas on getting the OEM ones cheap? Or are good quality non OEM's the way to go?

    cheers

    Patrick

Non genuine dampers are fine from Sachs or Boge, do not under any circumstances buy the springs from anywhere except an Audi dealer or from TPS and order them armed with the paint code that is applied to your originals using your cars chassis number-aftermarket springs are normally a joke…

Hi mate, I have FSD's fitted to spring that have done 135k! Would you recommend I get some new OEM springs from TPS then?

Ride is very boucey and a little harsh at times, although fitting 4 new Conti 3's has help no end

    Cheers

The springs, especially the fronts, do not tend to wear and the FSD is a very good damper but definitely, if you want to fit new standard springs DO NOT buy them pattern. I experimented with some pattern rears on a Golf 4 the other day as they are very quick to change and they were fine but I have seen some really comical results on pattern springs, they try to bring multiple part numbers down to one or two and it just does not work.

Some people find Eibach too hard, others like them-it is a matter of personal taste. Some people say the factory comfort springs are too hard and others think they are like jelly, everyone is different.
