I have a 2010 Passat TDI 2.0L CR. I got a good deal on the 108BHP model and had hoped to have it remapped to bring it up to around 140BHP. I have been advised that VW have now placed a meter in the ECU which allows them to know if the ECU has been accessed and therefore invalidate the warranty.
Is this true and is there a way around this??

Have a chat with Ben at Shark Performance. http://www.sharkperformance.co.uk/

I believe 2010 models such as yours and mine require the ecu opening up.

    Cheers

Hi Guys, new to the site but not remapping....

From about mid 09 on wards (59) lots but not all of VAG's ECU's were uploaded from the factory with anti tuning software...

Its not a case of dealers being able to see it or the remap being counted up on a meter....its just a case of cracking the anti tuning software on the front end of the ECU....

Lots of people are working on it so fingers crossed it wont be long..

I'm in the same boat only mines Oct 09. I miss the extra power my old 140 gave me but don't want a remap to void the warranty. A local place to me claims they can hide 98% of cars remaps so the dealer can't see them. The other thing they can do is give me a copy of the standard map and change it back when needed. If it's chnahed back will the dealer be able to see it's been tampered with?

If yours is a late 09 and thus has the 2010MY ECU then they will not be able to upload the map. Currently there is only one way to to remap the new models and that's to open up the ECU and directly flash it. VW's anti mapping software prevents maps being uploaded via the OBD port.

If your local place do not know about this issue then I wouldn't touch them with a barge poll.

    Cheers

Ah yes very true I find allot of people in this position
    1) Oops can’t flash the ECU so your stuck
    2) If you could would the dealer be able to see it?
    3) no.... they wouldn't be able to see it if it could be flashed.....but there is another option with 2010MY ECU, remove it open it bench flash it direct and hey bingo bango....only one problem....it can be physically seen if your friendly dealership technician go's looking..

    the old catch 22...

P.S I'm real friendly with a number of guys at my local dealership...to the extent that the general manger and workshop managers staff vehicles both having 2010MY ECU's have seen my bench and direct flashed....shhhhhh though don’t tell anyone
