I know this thread came on loads of times.

Was on the motorway heading towards Bristol today, and suddenly the car went on limp mode, the glowplug was flashing continiously, and the parking light came on. Pulled over on the hard shoulder, switched the ignition off, turned it on and the lights came on again. I was turning the ignition on/off several times but no joy!

I don't know where to start and look, right now I am completely !
I had the same problem before with this car, and noticed that the maf air box was out of place, so I clipped it in and all was fine.

    Any suggestions please?

Update: E- brake won't turn off, have to apply the brakes

Is the park brake actually on or just the light. If the brake is on, is it one or both wheels. Don't panic. If the park brake module THINKS the brakes might be faulty you will get limp mode etc. It can be something as simple as a faulty park brake button.
    Get a VCDS read.

Both of the lights come on. Sorry I didn't understood the part where you mentioned 'one or both wheels'?

Would disconnecting the battery reset the system? If not, then what else can I do. I've already spent loads on the DMF, don't have enough to get it repaired

I mean, when you press the brake button, do the rear brakes on both wheels come on. Do they go off when you press it again. So basically is the EPB working or not.

Sorry. Yes they both work, the EPB works fine. I have to press the EBP manually when I place it in 1st gear.
Update: Exclamation cames on, when I turn on the cruise control.

I read this on Passatworld forum:

    http://www.passatworld.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=278836

i had this problem... twice !!
    look
i called the dealer and they told me how to fix it..
unplug the battery for 10 minutes then plug it again then press the breaks for 35 seconds
after that, while pressing the breaks press the e-breaks for 10 seconds..
(( i think these are the right times ))
then the cars computer will restart and the problem will be fixed !!

For a complete reset take off both battery leads and touch them together for a minute or so. Then put them back on. When you start the car you may get loads of warning lights. Drive it a half a mile or so and they should all go out. If the brake warning light stays on. Try cycling the EPB on and off a few times.

I tried that, and nothing happened. However I scanned te car again and this fault code came up:

16610 Throttle pos sen C- circuit

Im guessing it's the throttle sensor?

How much would that roughly cost?

What did you scan with. If this fault code is correct, one of the accelerator pedal sensors has failed. (G79) Generally this doesn't happen on B6 passats due to a clever design. Check the connections to the pedal. Worse case you will have to swap the pedal to see if that fixes it. Cost just under £70.00

That's not too bad, I thought it will cost around £100

It was the orange VAG Scan, where I borrowed it off a friend! I disconnected the battery again, but no joy! It's too dark to see underneath the engine, so I am going to have a thorough look underneath, to see whether the pipes are out of place or not.

    Hope all goes well

You have all the symptoms of a failed accelerator sender. Loss of performance, loss of cruise control, and the accelerator fault code. Before buying a new one have a poke at the connector and wires that go to it. You might need to take the plastic shield off to get to the wires. Any sign of water leaking onto that area ?
