Where can i get a fuel cooler from apart from main dealer?

Need help! noticed the old rainbow effect running down the drive from under the car during some heavy rain and thought oh dear, ive got a leak.(Or words to that effect)

Ive been under the car and noticed that the fuel cooler bolted under the drivers seat is leaking, it looks slightly damaged, tbh im surprised how vunerable it is in that position.

Anyway i have phoned around the local breakers and most of them have never broken a 1.9tdi b6 shape and those that had didnt know the part i was talking about.

I even had one guy telling me he had been breaking cars for 20 years and that there is no such part! After arguing with him for 5 mins that i know there is because im led under the car looking at the b****y thing! he hung up

Have tried emailing most on ebay and get the same response 'sorry cant help'

has anyone got any idea who i could phone or who is a specialist in audi vw breakers who either does mail order or is in the west midlands area.

I have googled it and tried allaudi and vwspares but no joy so any more suggestions please!

Why are you against the main dealer? Get a price from them first, so you can guage how much of deal your getting if you find a secondhand one. Get the part number as well so your 100% sure you get the right bit

Try GSF, although they might not sell them its worth a try. Give your local TPS a call as well

Failing that you need to find a local breaker, or keep searching Ebay. I often find spres on Ebay.de that arent avaailble on Ebay.co.uk. Its harder work due to language/currency but the Greman site can often throw up some good bargains and rare parts.

Thanks Isaac ill give that a go, I will get a price from the main agent but tbh where i live the parts guys at the dealers are about as usefull as a split condom and they seem to enjoy making you feel just that little bit beneath them when personally i find them a bit unreliable for example, I ordered a speedo sensor from them for a 1998 a3 which was supposed to be coming on a overnight delivery, 1st excuse, computers were down so didnt order till next day, 2nd excuse part didnt get put on truck and it was now fri pm so wouldnt get it till tues, 3rd excuse they sent wrong part even though i gave them part number, 4th excuse the chap dealing with it was on holiday for 2 days at which point i exploded and got a refund and let promptly
Hence not so keen to go back! maybe ill try the part number at vw or seat? sometimes they are the same?

I've always found my dealer parts guys to be very helpful, whether I'm after an expensive part, or just the 30p nut which the manual says should be replaced when fitting the pads/bushes/etc that I've bought from GSF.

It's often easier if you go in, then they're more than hapy to let you point at the parts on their etka screen to figure out what's what.

You can't expect them to know everything, as they're only human, and can't know every part of every car, but I've found them to bepretty good.

Edit: Now that vagcat.com seems to be back, you could have a look for the part you need there, which will also tell you the part number.

Ok thanks ill let you know how i get on, Also i dont have a problem with all main dealers ha ha when i had my leon cupra the guys at seat bent over backwards to help, same with subaru and vw they have always been helpfull, only ones ive ever had hassle with was mitsubishi and audi, which is a shame maybe i just caught them on a bad day but it really felt as if i was causing them a major hassle. Its a shame im not closer to high wycombe

If your local dealer is not helpful, you can always phone a different one. I'd recommend Reading Audi or Amersham Audi - both been very helpful. They should be able to tell you what part number you need.

I have a slightly different problem the front bolt has snapped, are they plastic bolts or metal, and how do you get the bolt stub out to put a new one in, Mech tied mine up as you can see until I can get the bolt out
