    Hi guys.

I know that my 2006 2.0TDi Tiptronic is due a service but one thing that has been annoying me lately is an incredibly jerky start, pulling away from stationary. Even with gentle use of the accelerator, there seems to be a delay between the revs picking up and the drive engaging causing sudden and aggressive acceleration. Some days seem worse than others but that might be me!

Any ideas? If it's something expensive, might be best NOT telling me :-)

    Thanks

You don't have tiptronic, you have multitronic.

The multi oil needs changed religiously every 39/40k. Make sure this has been done, a fault code scan with vcds or from Audi wouldn't go a miss either.

I suspected that would be the advice guys, thank you. I've only had the car about 6 months and have no record of the fluid ever being changed so probably a wise move. I had wondered about idle speed / air and fuel flow being a possible cause as some mornings (like today) it's not nearly so bad but the fluid needs doing anyway so lets see if that sorts it. Sorry about the "tiptronic" blunder. Guess I'm still having Volvo withdrawal symptoms :-)

    Cheers

well it could be MAF, or something else. If you have VCDS, please do LOG engine 3,8,11 channels. Don't drive around, just do nice start like in drag race till gear 3-4 ^^

This mean you've binned the flat cap?

TBH it doesn't seem to be a well publicised fact, Audi will have recommended it to previous owners but some just choose not to pay for it, luckily it's less than 4lt of fluid and usually at a decent price.

What mileage does yours have on it currently....an Audi dealership should be able to tell you if yours hs been done in the dealer network though?

Don't slag the old Volvo mate, S80 2.5 D5 that was quicker off the mark than the A6 and managed 56-58 mpg versus the A6's 40 mpg. Anyway, one becomes accustomed to driving in 1st gear wearing one's flat cap and slippers whilst puffin away on the old pipe, not good for pulling the bird though :-)

The cars coming up for 90K on the clock now and I have no idea if the tranny fluid was ever changed so I will get it done VERY soon. Any idea what Audi charge? Roughly?

    Cheers

Check your service history or pop into your local dealer if it was done through them they'll be able to check.

Prices vary dealer to dealer so best asking them direct.

Really, I thought comparible S80 (07 in my case) was a full 2 secs slower than my quattro? Hey but what do I know as thought the S80 had a 2.4 engine I do however seem to be the only person that's gotten 900+ miles out of a tank though

Back on topic, figures I've seen verge between £250-£350 from memory...if it is that and your is approaching 90k miles with no tranny fluid change I'd be thinking really hard before I drove it anywhere.
