Anyone have experience at replacing one of these?. I noticed mine is starting to perish in a section of the outer cable, so got a new one, thinking it would be pretty straightforward task. Even read it through in the haynes manual, although it was a bit vague in the section about "removing some of the fascia panels under the steering column". So to get access to where it connects to the accelerator pedal, from what I can see, or not, is that the whole fascia or close to it has to be removed. A mechanic friend had a quick look, and said the same, and advised me to just grease up the perished section and avoid changing it! Nightmare. Any advice welcome! Cheers

Which bit is perishing? My cable is metal and covered by plastic. Is it corroded or something?

yeah its the cable outer, the plastic coating has worn away exposing the coiled metal which protects the actual steel cable, if you get me. Like a bike brake cable. It still works fine, just thought it would be a fairly easy job, not to be it seems. Didn't realise it would involve removing the whole dash!
