a6 no windows, no interior lights and door open warning on

Hi, I'm new here so hopefully posting in the right place!! My beloved A6 seems to have some gremlins today...

the electric windows wont work, the interior light wont come on, the dash says there is a door open when there isnt and the alarm keeps going off!! Gutted! I've checked for wet floors as I heard that was a common fault, rang the wonderfully unhelpful audi dealership... they want £95per hour + Vat to look at it. They said its possibly a door switch. Does anyone have any idea how i can fix this myself??

Welcome. It could be the door switch, but more likely I think it is the wiring between the door and the chassis. The wiring is quite tight in there and it tends to rub. Between the door and the chassis there is a rubber boot, pull that off and check the wiring behind it, look for where the insulation has rubed of and the wiring could be shorting on the body work.

If you do find damage you might be able to patch it with some insulation tape but you may need to solder some of the wires.

checked that all looks ok. the handle sometime doesnt open the door very easily either. i have tried the 2 handles at the same time thing but no joy

so i have no interior lights, the open door warning and the alarm keeps going off so guess it must be that microswitch, but is it unusual for the electirc windows all to stop working all at the same time as the switch issue??

Have you lifted the passenger-side carpet and inspected the convenience module for green snot?

Hi all. Right FINALLY fixed!! Yes we did have a look at the CCM which had evidently been damp at some point in its life as it was all green but wasnt damp anymore. We ended up taking it to Elite Auto's in Bretton Peterborough who were FANTASTIC. They did what they do and found that one pin on one of the connectors in the CCM had snapped. Which they replaced and now all is fine again! Plus the bill was considerably cheaper than it would have been if i'd have had to go to audi - only £121 inc VAT. Elite couldnt have been better - very honest and upfront that they thought it'd be the ccm (they said only audi could do that as they wont give out the codes) Over the moon she's fixed. Hope this helps someone else on here - i had been told to test the alternator as well as apparantly this can cause electrical faults if the alternator is faulty.
