Hello again.. another query, or possible issue with my Audi A6.

It a 2001 Audi A6 C5 2.5TDi Saloon. It seems to sit pretty low at the front. The springs/shocks all appear to be doing their jobs and are not broken.

When I spoke to my mechanic about this, he said it's common on these cars, as they have big heavy engines in the front, and tend to do this.

    What do you guys think?

(I will try and get some photos up, but won't be until tonight/tomorrow when I get a chance to take a snap).

    Cheers
    Nik

Mine's got standard suspension, and does look quite low at the front. If you want, tell me the measurement between the tyre and the wheel arch, and I'll measure mine for you to compare.

    Hi all

Similar problem, I think - I'm forever bottoming the front of my car on speed bumps - thank heavens for the solid under tray beneath the engine/gearbox or else I'd have done some damage before now.

What I'm wondering is whether springs or shock absorbers fall off in efficiency and the front drops Would new shocks be worthwhile?

I noticed when I had the car in for rear brakes that the blue rubber "doughnuts" at top and bottom of rear springs were perished and starting to break up - are there similar doughnuts on the front springs and could that be a cause?

    Regards

    John

On the first A6 I bought all the bushes were pretty badly worn in a lot of the front suspension link arms. I ended up changing every arm in the front and was surprised by how much this raised the car up.

Hi, check on the label in the boot to see if it is fitted with sports suspension, if it is then it might have had standard springs fitted at a later date. The standard springs are'nt as thick. I could only get sports springs from Audi. £150 for the pair.
