Does anyone know which fuse is the one for the fan blower.
Or have any ideas about why mine does not work in any of the four settings 1,2,3 or 4
I've tried the Resistor in the side of the motor and that made no difference.

    Van is a 2.5 tdi T5

    Many thanks

Usually the Resistor is the usual suspect ! I take it you checked the main live into the Resistor ? Other problems are the motor itself, but the switches are usually fine.
2 fuse panels behind cover in dash. Check card to see fuse positions. Check for a live at resistor and motor.

Checked there was live going to the motor, and resistor and there is.
Took the motor out and connected it directly to a battery and it doesn't seem to work, so I guess I need a new fan blower motor then.

Anyone know where I can get on at a reasonable price. The vw dealership want £198!!!!!!!!!! Eeeek...
However, i've found one that looks like the same motor, but from a golf. Is it the same? If so it's only £38 from a breakers.

Does anyone know of a vw transporter breakers?

Sorry... Lots of questions I know, but i've got to get this sorted before the colder whether gets here and mists up my windscreen leaving me trying to drive using The Force...

Give it a kick. You could try eddie torrens in ballymoney, northern ireland. He delivers too. Probably a little more expensive than if you get it local to your self and a real grumpy git to talk to but he will definitly have one !

    Hi Bangor Lad,

I gave your suggestion a go (kick it) and F**k me, when I got in the van thismorning the blower was working..... But only for about five minutes then it just stopped.... bugger! Could it be a fuse or something that wobbles when driving, meaning it works intermitantly?

No, it`ll be the motor faulty.

You see mission lol. Sometimes technical diagnosing just confuses things ! It means its the motor. When you move ( kick the bugger ) it makes contacts that are worn/burnt out contact until they reposition themselves.

Does the motor spin freely by hand ?
If it does then its probably the carbon brushes worn - if so then you could try a domestic appliance repairer to get some that will either fit or can be adapted.

If the motor soes not spin freely then squirt a tiny drop of WD 40 (or similer) into the bearings, run for a couple of minutes then get some oil such as engine oil & get that into the bearings (just a little - say match head sized drop).
If nether work then the motor itself is US.
    take care & enjoy life
