    Hi,

I know that there have been discussions on here regarding the aluminium window trim and the fact that it can become discoloured - I wondered if anyone had any experience of the ease/cost of replacing aluminium trim with the black trim that is used on special edition models with the black optic package?

    get your credit card out
and if your doin it yourself have a weekend aside for it
all door trims off and lift the full frame out for the door strips
rear quarter out so alot of inside trims need to be removed
quick cheap way to do it and looks good
have it vinal wrapped and its very easy to do yourself

I don't know anything about vinyl wrapping - presumably just putting a layer of black vinyl over the top of the exisiting trim - where do you get vinyl from?

The lacquer is microns thick and can't take any sanding to smooth out any bumps you might make with the touch up paint.

I've had the hassle of changing all of these on my B6 after a wash with one of those touchless wash systems. Discoloured all my chrome.

There are two versions you can buy, just the chrome or chrome with the lower window seal included.

£28 rear doors with seal. £22 without seal.
£38 front doors with seal. £28 without seal.
£58 for the rear C pillar chrome which sweeps round the C pillar glass
£80 for the length of chrome which comes from the a pillar and stops above the rear door near the C pillar.
    These prices are for each.

My advice would to buy the one with the seal and to buy some replacement door clips for the door card, since the door card will have to come off. Also buy some clips which attach the seal to the door. I'm in the process of doing a "how to" for this.
