    Dont know if this is common knowledge but here's a link for instructions for resetting the service

    This says A4 & A6 (all years).

    Please dont pay somebody on ebay Info that free on the web!!

    Sorry Nick - but this procedure will not work on my 1997 A4 1.9TDI. I think it only applies to later models. You have to do it via the OBDII socket. I'm still trying to find an inexpensive tool for this purpose, but no luck so far. I did buy one on eBay, but had to return it as that didn't work either. I had my reset done by a local mobile mechanic, but despite having an impressive array of computer gear, he didn't find the task straightforward.

    Sorry to hear this didn't work, this is just something I stumbled accross which searching the web.
    Interesting to know it doesn't work on all models. Hopefully It'll work for someone, mine is due in 2.200 so will see if if works on mine then so will update then.

    It should work on your later model car. Seems strange that the earlier models were more "computerized" than the later ones.
