Hi, I'm new to all this forum lark so bear with me.
    Passat 1.9tdi 130 engine code AWX. 54plate.
Had this motor for 18mths and its been a gem until yesterday junction 22 of the M1 it lost all power. Jolly fine chap from the RAC diagnosticated the car to a "18047 accelerator position sensor 1/2 (G79 / G185) implausible signal". Once this was cleared the old girl got me the 70 or so miles home without a whimper. Should I replace the sensor or is it now 'fixed'. Also noticed a load of water in the driver footwell is it possible that a bit of water affected the sensor? Your thoughts please before I dare go to the local dealership.

It's two sensors in one. Dry everything out and see how you go. If it happens again you will have to replace the throttle pedal as the sensors are part of it.

This happened to a mates car; one day he started it and it would only tick over and not rev up. A few hours later it was fine, but he had the same fault code stored as you. It was caused by blocked plenum drains, normally it floods the passenger side but it can also affect the drivers side too.

Yup, they were blocked up. I've just finished drying out the carpets both sides so i'll see how it goes. Many thanks.
