For the second time in our ownership of our 1.9 TDi, following heavy rain water has appeared in all the vehicle footwells, yet doesn't seem to have wet any of the seats etc.

The last time we had a problem, a quick clean out of the drainage ducts at the front of the sunroof did the trick. But having tried the same tactic this time, I'm not sure it's solved the problem.

Any thoughts/suggestions how this problem might be addressed would be very welcome.

Thanks for that. I've gone back thru' a few posts on the same subject on this forum, and now have a list of possibilities.

I had this on a Jetta I had many moons ago (1986 model!!) and I traced it to a missing rubber grommet somewhere in the engine bay. It was caused by water splashing up from the wheels when driving. If yours is happening when the car is standing still, then you need to look higher up, somewhere where water will travel down and reach the footwell. Basically, all cut-out holes in the bodywork should have a grommet, so if you see a hole without one, it might be the culprit.

    Andy.

Thanks again. Still waiting for some heavy rain with the vehicle stationary to help with the diagnosis.
