    Dear members,

I am looking for help to identify an airbag warning sympbol coming up on the instrument panel. I recently replaced by complete glovebox to install an ami and cd changer as the original only had one socket. I connected the wiring back up ( 1 connection only) and started the engine and there is an airbag warning symbol. Turned on/off the passenger airbag slot in glovebox and correct symbol appeared near air vent but airbag symbol won`t go off. Took the glovebox back off and connectd original glovebox and airbag symbol still stays on. Put the new one back on again and same thing. Does anyone have any idea as to why the warning symbol appears. previously I have taken on the original glovebox and disconnected the lead and reconnected without fault. Why does the new glovebox, and now the original cause this problem.

The only other change I made at the weekend was to replace the centre console which was scratched for a newer console. Can`t see how that would interfere with the airbag as only connects mmi, brake, 12v socket and lighting for the console. Any HELP on this welcome.

The warning is on because you disconnected the passenger air bag disable switch when you disconnected the multiplug for the glovebox, it's no big deal, but you will need to have the fault reset.

    Dear member,

Thank you for your response. Does this mean than Audi will have to reset this or is there a better way to reset? I have disconnected the original glovebox before and it didn`t come up with the symbol hence me posting the question. I look forward to your response

Either an Audi dealer or anybody with access to Vagcom can reset the system. There is only a fault logged if you switched the ignition on, so if you've removed the glovebox without the air bag light coming on, you didn't switch the ignition on that time.

    Dear member,

Thank you again. Silly me as I was listening to the football whilst replacing the new glovebox. Totally forgot about the ignition being on and very easily done. Cheers!

Where are you (geographically)? It's definitely worth posting a request for help in the Vag-Com section to see if a forum member nearby with the VCDS software will reset the fault for you.

    Cheers!

    Dear member,

Thank you for your response. I live on the Isle of Bute (north west of Glasgow). The carr is booked in at Audi soon and I hope that they can reset as part of the service BDM2510
