Hi to all, looking for some advice / information regarding my 9n3 Polo.
Its a 1.4 2005 polo which needs it's front brake pads replacing.
Can anyone tell me who supplies the OE pads.... is it ATE, Textar, Pagid etc...
or does anyone have a recommendation for an alternative manufacturer.
    Many thanks
    Simmo

I used to use Textar a lot but recently have had problems with them; I think they have changed their compound. I am pushing my customers towards genuine pads and discs as the discs are beautiful quality (anti corrosion coated) and not much more than pattern but the pads are expensive. The problem with all the makes you have mentioned is I am finding they squeal and moan. I fitted genuine front discs and Textar pads to my VRS and they took months to settle in and still squeal at slow speeds in traffic. I fitted aftermarket rear discs (I cannot mention the name) and Textar pads and they are driving me potty with their horrendous groaning in reverse and squealing during all but heavy breaking, they will have to go… I had a couple of customers who I had to change their pads for genuine within weeks of fitting Textar as they were not working at high speed and were noisy, I have had to change my allegiance and this is after years of recommending Textar pads. What they have done to their compound I have no idea but they have ruined them.

I fitted Bosch discs and pads to the front of our 2006 Polo and they have been great. Much cheaper than VAG - they were about £80 total.

    Barnacle,
Thanks for your reply regarding the Bosch pads/discs. I have had a look on the net but haven't found any suppliers, could i ask where you managed to get yours from?
    Cheers Simmo.

Thanks for the reply, but I have managed to source a set of genuine pads and discs from a VW Independant for 70.50p! the bosch ones were 67.00 from Andrew Page. going with the OE pads and disc for the sake of 3 quid.
Just a quick question though.... did you need a caliper rewind tool for the front pads? & if so are they both right handed?

Correct - juse pushed them back; very easy job.
Make sure that you spot the difference between the inside and outside pads - it is a subtle difference on the o/s caliper without the wire.
