hey there my starter motor failed so got a new one
and was told by kwik fit the starter engine should factory fit but it just slid into the gearbox
i was then told that there is ment to be a brass bearing that helps hold the start motor in place
    after 3weeks it broke again
and they said they cant do anything all they did was fit a new starter motor
    what should i do ?
can i get this repaired or should i get rid of my car while its running again

The brass bush in the bell housing has disintegrated and if the hole is gouged out bigger than original then the box has to be rebuilt with a new bell housing or a custom made sleeve fitted, all of which are expensive as the box has to come out. As for unloading your car on some poor unsuspecting innocent buyer, I cannot advise you on that as if I did something like that (being in the trade) I would be breaking the law…

Used boxes are a dangerous game, you may find one with a good starter bush but that is otherwise worn out. Of course a mechanic could repair it but it is not going to be cheap.
