3 months in with the Golf & I noticed some marks on a couple of the rims.
Took the car to the dealer & after being accused of "kerbing" the rims there followed a "discussion" that led to it being agreed that it is the onset of corrosion that is affecting 2 of the rims at the moment.
This has been duly noted & will be covered by warranty.
The "marks" are quite small at the moment so it's a waiting game to see how they develop over the next few months for them to get bad enough for VW to exchange.

Why do these dealers send the staff out to try & fob you off with excuses & stalling tactics ??
Doesn't work with me but does manage to annoy me

Anybody else having problems with the Atlata rims ?

No problems and over a year on the roads although my annual mileage is lower than average. However dealers like to fob you off on anything. I wanted a replacement driver's sun visor as mine rattles unless I do my own fix. They can't reproduce it on a run round the block and so can't sanction a replacement.
What ba*****s they are. I'm not asking for a new engine or gear train.

These polished/diamond cut finishes are more trouble thant hey are worth - its a lot more difficult to get the clear lacquer to bond. One stone chip and the lacquer breaks, the water undercuts the lacquer and hey-ho white worm starts !

For those that bother to wax their car bodywork, they should also do the same with the wheels (after all they are only painted metal, the same as the body).

Use of 'wheel cleamers' should be absolutely minimised, or at least carefully selected - regular washing with just normal car shampoo will keep wheels clean and negate the need of all those nasty acid cleaners like WonderWheels.

My seattles have a similar finish on the face - so far no issues after 15k miles, but they are waxed every 4 months. I do have a bit of minor stone damage in places but no corrosion (yet!).

Thanks for the "waxing" tip Percy, I'll try it out.
Interesting how after I refused to accept that the wheels had been "kerbed" including a statement that tyres "recover" from "kerbing" & that's why there's no marks on the tyres it was then conceded that there was indeed an element of corrosion due to lacquer issues.

I'm beginning to think that the "S" model is the best buy (less toys) same engine/transmission. My main reason for going for the SE was the better seats with lumbar support.
