Hi, looking to purchase a 05/06 A6 Avant and was wondering if anybody had a pdf of a service log book/service schedule so I can take a look at when services will be due and what needs undertaking at each service.

I can then enquire at my friendly local dealership as to cost of these services v. independents. Is there anywhere I can get a run down of all the services required for either petrol or diesel (haven't decided on engine yet!)?

    Cheers

For up to 2.0 cars over 3 years old Audi dealers charge full service at £250 and minor service £99. SErvice intervals vary depending in previous servicing I believe, some have a much longer service interval than others.

Audi serviced my 3.0TDi two weeks ago and it was the major service at 50k. It needed 2 front discs and pads all round along with the usual filters, oil etc.

Service items depend on the individual car as an automatic (which mine is) will need the brakes replaced more frequently than a manual car because there is no engine braking and it also depends on how you drive the car etc.

A6 Chris has hit the nail on the head - its not the cost of the service, its all the extra work that suddenly needs done. Dealers (& other garages) often offer cheap deals on servicing older cars because they're guaranteed to find something that needs done where they make the money back.
Find a mechanic you can trust and stick with them - even if they're not the cheapest for the service. Oh, and get your own VCDS cable!
I use NVS and can highly recommend them.
