It's an invitation to use the search facility as opposed to asking the same question as has been answered many times before...

Not wishing to seem rude, but it does grate when people ask the same question again and again and again....

I expect your user manual suggests the use of any oil meeting VW specs 505.01 or 507.00, depending on whether you are on fixed or variable servicing.

Probably best not to use Asda's own brand 20 50

Thanks for replies will check manual for spec , Im new to the site and was after peoples prefered engine oils thats all . Preiously owned 53 plate passat and bought castrol semi synthetic diesel oil only later to be told by vag garage this was the wrong oil needed to be pd oil .

If it's a new shape Passat (PQ46) then it'll have either a BKC, BXE or BLS engine found in most of the VAG range.
