    Hi,

I have an 2000 Audi A3 1.8T. Recently the Airbag light came on the same time as the horn stopped working. It appears the horn earths through the airbag. Am I right in assuming this?

I'd be suprised if the horn earths through the airbag, but they probably both connect through the same connector to the steering wheel. If this has disconnected, then the airbag light will detect an airbag fault (there isn't a bag), and the horn won't work, so I'd say the first thing to do is disconnect the battery and remove the steering wheel to see what's going on in there.

High Nick, I've had it all to bits and can't find anything untoward or out of place, there is a 2 pin connector into the airbag itself from the column, and from that the horn works by shorting/making contact with the airbags body. So at one point the wiggly amps have to travel across the airbags rear surface and to a pin on the connector, the pins are visibly isolated from the airbags exterior. Which had me thinking that a wiring fault within the airbag could be causing the problem. I'll persevere, results to follow shortly fingers crossed...

    Cheers

'Tis 5 yo old thread i know but heregoes. I am having the same problem - no horn and airbag light on. I have just discovered, after first removing airbag and steering wheel, that there is no ground (earth connection) to the steering boss. I have posted a separate request hoping that somebody can tell me where the earth strap is going from the steering column to the engine bay/bulkhead. Did you get it fixed?
