RCD510 recently fitted in to 2007 passat

Hi there,
New to this forum so firstly hello all, I have recently purchased and installed an rcd 510 to replace my rcd 300 in my 2007 passat, fantastic stereo which I am over the moon with but am now after just a few days experiencing a flat battery which I believe after reading a few posts on similar forums is attributed to this new fab stereo I;ve purchased. I really don't wanna have to put the rcd 300 back in so could anyone who has a spare 5 mins please explain to me in 'dummies terms' how I can remedy this problem, I have read talk of needing a canbus change? if this is the case where is the cheapest place to buy and what then? please advise as I am have gone from being a happy guy with a new stereo to a sad lad with a flat battery!

Do a search for the 510 in the passat b6 forum. If you update the can gateway make sure you get the right one. e.g. 3C0907530 (?) The ? will be a letter. It needs to be L or later according to most people but Q seems to be the latest one and it is causing problems , so I would avoid it for now. You could get a dealer to fit and code a new gateway. They would have to get it right before you paid them !!!
