ESP Light. not your normal fault, I'm sure of it!! help needed.

Hi all

Had ESP light on for a while, VCDS gave code of 01435 brake pressure sensor G201
fault in electrical system,

Well, today i fitted a recon ABS unit and control module, supplied by ECU-Testing,


As soon as i plugged VAG-COM in, it is still giving the same error!!!!!!!

Help!! What now???

Brake pressure sensor is showing 215.47bar, Brake light switch seems to work ok, ie brake lights work, and the cruise control works.

Please can anyone else offer any other sollution? i have had enough of this car now.

Check the wiring for mutual shorting and eliminate any possible wiring issue, if the fault still shows replace the complete abs unit including the hydraulic part


then run the Brake Pressure Sensor basic setting

Prerequisites:

* System voltage at least 12.0 V.

[03 - Brake Electronics]
[Measuring Blocks - 08]
Group 005
[Go!]
Check field 1, the value has to be between -8.0 and +8.0 bar.
[Done, Go Back]
[Coding-II - 11]
OR (if Coding-II is not available)
[Security Access - 16]
Enter 40168, to enable the basic setting.
[Do it!]
[Basic Settings - 04]
Group 066
[Go!]
Activate the Basic Setting.
[ON/OFF/Next]
After a successful basic setting, field 2 should say "OK".
[Done, Go Back]
To make sure the basic setting was succesful, check the sensor again.

Group 005
[Go!]
Check field 1, the value has to be between -3.8 and +3.8 bar.
[Done, Go Back]
[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]

new unit fitted!! same fault exists,

Can see any wiring issues and cannot complete pressure sensor setting as it displays not possible, I have done all basic settings.

well you do sound funny, lol
check the wiring from the switch to the abs (disconnected of course).
Never buy recon control units only buy new and always eliminate the basic before going balls deep and replacing the control unit.

Cannot test the sensor as it is intergrated into the hydraulic pump unit.

These are not user serviceable.

I have however spoken with ecutesting who have agreed that the unit must have failed in transit so are sending a new one out.

Cannot be a wiring fault as it is contained inside the pump and control module assembly, the only wiring coming from the ATE TEVES MK60 module for my car, are obviously the CAN lines, wiring to sensor on each wheel, power and esp switch and warning lights etc and other bits, but no pressure sensor.

as ecutesting have quite rightly said, if i can physically communicate with the module then it cannot be an external wiring fault.

I dont see why you shouldnt buy a recon unit as you have said, why would anyone in their right mind pay £1200 for a genuine part that give 2 years 12000 miles warranty, over a £450 recon unit with 2 years/unlimited mileage warranty ??

This is funny, I'm fully aware of the abs opertaion and the postion of the sensor and also the postion 4 of the brake switch which signals engine ecu and abs.If you posted the fact that you cant access address 03 then it would have been easier to show you how to test the abs but you already know that.abs communicates over drive can not can bus, drive train goes to gateway and then out over the can for lighting etc.

again, as per my first post, I CAN ACCESS ADDRESS 03!!!!!! if i couldnt how else would i of been able to get the current pressure reading and the fault code!!!!!!!

not once have i said i cannot access the ABS module.

if you were aware of how the system works, why did you give me a diagram of how to test the sensor, when the sensor cannot be accessed without stripping the entire unit out of the car?? then dismantling the complete unit and testing between the 2 test pads on the sensor that i cannot replace even if it is dead!

I think you have either got completely the wrong end of the stick, or you are trying to "tick" me off.

I'm not a novice you know, I am a mechanic, just not come accross this problem before as i have been working in the plant industry up to now.
