I have a 2.5tdi 2004 (auto box) B6 when I place the car in reverse I get a long "beep" and none of the sensors register, I presume one of the parking sensors has failed.

Do you have to remove the whole bumper to replace ? and if so how ?

Where is the cheapest place to purchase a new genuine audi sensor ?

    Any help would be grateful

    Thanks

if you have it scanned it will tell you which sensor is faulty, ive done this using a snap on scanner in the past, iirc you can reach up behind the bumper and compress the 2 clips and push it out, if i was you id try TPS or GSF, gsf wont sell a genuine one but its worth a call to check on price

If you have no access to scan equipment ,select reverse with ignition only and place your ear to each sensor, the one that is silent is the offender, strangely quite often the nearside unit

Thanks ordered a Vag Com lead tried to feel under the bumper to gain access to the sesnors - no chance of this, only problem now is that I will have to take the car into a garage to have the rear bumper taken off. Unless someone can explain an easier way to replace the sensor

There is another way to check without using VAG COM. If you make sure the sensors are on and then go around the car listening to them (ear as close as you can) you'll here the good ones "click" repeatedly. The dead ones won't. If one sensor fails the entire system will not work.

I usually buy sensors on Ebay for around £30 - £40. Be carefull removing/replaceing the sensors. I've pulled good ones apart in the past as the top bracket sometimes unclips themselves.

Just noticed that I've repeated the same info from Fourringsrus... !! lol... Well "if 2 doctors say you're ill..."

Easiest way is to drill the old ones out ,discard the old bits, feed the new ones in and tywrap the new one's leads to the inside of the bumper. Take off the passenger side boot lining and you will find the original control box with a lead going up to the sounder under the rear shelf directly under the rear windscreen. Just put your new control box where the original one was and tuck the new sounder near the old one. Took me half a day to do it.
