CAN ANYONE HELP ME??? I own an AUDI A3 1.6 on 2000 reg.

Im not much of a mechanic so im not to sure of my way around cars but recently its started to get very sluggish when moving in 1st & 2nd gears and also noticed that sometimes when driving at speeds of around 80mph(ish) on motorways it jerks and feels like the car loses power and comes back!

Also Ive noticed that when I take my foot off the accelerator I can heard a very slight knocking sound on speeds of around 30-40mph.

Also my passenger window is playing up, it seems to go down fine, but when pulling it back up, it loses power and the window doesnt come up, can only pull it up when I pull it up myself. Ive been told the motors gone but if thats the case wouldnt it not come down at all???

I'm a bit weary of taking it in to a dealership in case they quote me something ridiculous! If anyone can help would be much appreciated...

    thanks

The car sluggishness and jerky behaviour could well be the MAF sensor (presume the car has one). I had the same problem in my S3. You can easily check this by disconnecting the sensor wires and the problem goes away. For a tip to find it, the sensor is located after the air filter. good luck.
