    Hi all,

    I have a 99 Audi A6 Avant with the 4.2 V8 engine and it's due a cambelt change.

Local Audi dealer in Watford quoted just over £800 including VAT for doing the cambelt and water pump

I've seen mention of Staffordshire Audi on the forums and found their ad on eBay - haven't approached them for a quote for the V8 yet but their prices look to be about half what Audi in Watford want.

So the question is - is it worth driving 120+ miles to Stafford or is there someone in the Hertfordshire or North London area someone can recommend. I found Follett Motors in St Albans (via Google) but no idea if they're any good. Local GSF Parts shop recommended someone called GDS Motors in Watford.

But I'd rather go with someone's personal experience - so any recommendations greatfully received - especially if they can do the cambelt for less than £800!

    Many thanks,

    sparky

I've also heard good things about the Auto Pool in Iver (near Heathrow). I've not used them myself, but one of my colleagues has, and said they were very good.
