How do you lower a 2004 VW lt28 sprinter type? there is to much arch space showing on my camper conversion for my liking.

You cant, the front axle has a Transverse Leaf Spring, and the rear, Leaf Springs. Check rears to see if it hasnt had extra spring plates fitted.

Checked today, has one leaf spring and a very short thick top plate above ridged to hold the U bolt in place.
I have finished the conversion and fully loaded water tank, diesel etc the rear axel is a good 4"-5" off the bumpstops, could I not put a different spring on the rear? the front is OK but I presume the rear is set high for heavy loads which as a camper I will not be carrying.
I am not sure how far the axel will travel up when hitting bumps, any ideas please.

I have never lowered one of those but as it is a Merc Sprinter that gives you some more options to search with.

Hi Kim01, when you say to much space in the wheel arch, do you mean the rear of the van when looking at it sideway on sits stupidly high and the front looks like its overloaded ?

Hi Ray, thanks for the reply, yes kinda like that, just would like to get the rear end down a bit, there is more arch space at the rear end than the front.
The van was like that before I converted it so it,s not a case of poor weight ditrebution.

You may find you have uprated springs fitted to the rear, i have seen a few like this, even 08 sprinters (new shape) my guess is, ( and i know that was the reason in one case).... that more than the permissable weight can be carried without it showing to badly on the rear, they may not even be vw parts excluding the main spring leaf, if you see another 28 have a look under and see if theirs have the same leafs, not sure if the 35 are the same, the 45 are twin wheel but not sure if will fit, maybe the other guys on here who work on them could verify the diference....

Thanks again Rayl, the van belonged to a hire shop for a while so your suggestion is feasible, I will look under other LT 28.
