Rear Brake disks

My rear brake disks are shot and desperatley need replacing, I`ve bought a new set but am unable to remove the nut that keeps the disk on due to some serious corrosion.

Can somebody give me a rough idea how much a garage would charge to replace the disks, obviously i`m not going to mention the seized nuts...

Noticed Audi quote 229 but would it be more if they`d struggled to remove the bolts or is this price fixed.

You dont need to take off the carrier just hit the disc with a rubber hammer at the bottom from behind it will come off eventually, try turning the disc a few cm's at a time if it doesnt pop off after a couple of hits

I take it you mean the crosshead screw holding the disc in place,its quite normal for that to be seized,all part of the job,you can try some penetrating oil,then heat if that fails drill out the head only leaving the shank so you can remove the disc,then unscrew it with some mole grips,if you think its beyond your skills it won't cost any more.

I'm talking about the calliper mounting bracket bolts, on my quattro the bottom ones almost inaccessible due to the lower end of the damper.
So you guys are saying it should just come off after removing the calliper. With the bracket still on, this would be great. Is this correct...??

take the caliper off not its carrier pull the pads out tap the disc off the opposite end.

Just an update for anybody who stumbles upon this thread via the search function.

You can remove the rear brake disks without removeing the caliper bracket (My bolts were siezed solid), just hit the disk where the caliper should be (its the only place you can hit the back of the disk due to the rain sheilds at the back of the disk. The disk should then be free and you can wriggle it out passed the caliper bracket.

The new disk won`t feel like it will go on due to the bracket being in the way. It will with a bit of persuasion via a rubber mallet. Just tap the disk into the bracket and onto the hub....

Easy...
