I've just spent most of the weekend deliberating over whether to buy an A4 1.9TDI (130) Quattro Sport and I still need convincing 1 way or another.

It's on a 54 plate, Akoyo silver, 111,000 miles, full leather interior, 1 owner from new, full Audi service history.

Body work is spot on for age, some very minor marks and usual stone chips on bonnet. The driver's door does seem to have dropped very very slightly.

There seems to be two load covers in the boot, one which pulls up over and the other horizontally. The horizontal one is missing i.e. the roller is there but the fabric is gone.

    Q. Can you buy this as a spare?

The alloys are the standard 5 spoke and in mint condition and everything seems to work fine on the car.

    Q. Everything I've read on here regarding high mileage seems to suggest that 100K is not high for a fully serviced car. Any other opinions on that?

    Q. Timing belt has been changed, need to confirm when and if water pump was changed at same time. Would the timing belt have to be changed again and if yes, at what mileage?

    Q. Are there any other obvious points relating to this model that I should be looking out for?

    Q. Finally, car is advertised for £7495. Any suggestions on what I should pay would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for all the questions, just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing!

    Thank you,
    Sean.

Sounds like a nice car, 110k shouldn't be an issue with the service history it has. Depending on how its been driven the only thing to look out for is the clutch and dual mass flywheel. Mine needed changing at 140k and cost £800.

Not sure on price, is it from a dealer?

Sales manager at local citroen dealer took it in part ex from an older couple and decided to keep it himself for the last 10K. It hasn't been registered in his name, hence still only showing as 1 owner.

He's just put it on the forecourt this weekend and it's going on the internet today. I was hoping to make a cash offer to save him the trouble but not sure what to go in at.

Tax is due end of August, has full MOT, tyres are part worn, still a fair few miles left and he said he would service it. However, I would rather get a price from an Audi dealer to keep the full Audi service history and knock this cost off the price.

What kind of warranty is he offering?

It all depends what you can afford, its got to be worth going in at £7k cash with 1 years warranty and you'll buy it TODAY!

    Only 3mths parts and labour.

Just found out from Audi dealer that it was last serviced at 99K (basic oil change), next one is due in about 3K. Been advised that this should be a major service to include air/fuel and pollen filter at cost of c.£275.

Also found out that it had a new gearbox in 2007. Is this normal?

I thought the manual boxes were pretty reliable, maybe someone else can help on this one. I dont see why it would be a problem, it was done 3 years ago which proves its solid and at least you know that it should now last

Thank you very much for your advice on this, much appreciated.

If anyone else can shed any words of wisdom on my buy/not buy dilemna, it would be most helpful.
