I have a 2007 A6, 2.0 tdi and the last 2 sets of front tyres have both lasted about 10k miles. The first set were Dunlop SP Sports and the second set were Continental Sport Contact2, both fitted by an Audi dealership. I have questioned this with the dealership and they say that A6s are heavy on front tyres! The wear is very even accross both tyres so there are no mechanical problems.

Is 10K a typical lifespan for the current A6 as I was getting twice that on my previous A6?

Was your previuos A6 also a 2.0 TDI. It is heavy on the front and the TDI wants to put a lot of torque into the front tyres so your right ffot and tyre wear are very much linked. 10k is very low. Regards Peter

Previous one was 1.9 tdi. I don't think I have a particularly heavy right foot ( but I am biased of course) but my thoughts are that 10K is very low.

    Thanks for your reply.

My previous 2.0 TDi had quite an appetite for front tyres, but I found that Michelin Pilot Sports lasted quite a bit longer than the Continentals on my previous car - it may be worth giving these a try?

    Cheers!

I was browsing and came across this, don't know if I am much help but...

I have a C5 2.7T quattro automatic. Been through 2 sets of tyres (all four tend to wear evenly due to the 4 wheel drive).

Part used Michelin Pilots on the car when I bought it and I got 19k miles from them

New set of Avon SS3's went for 26k miles before reaching 2mm of tread.

The 2.7T is pretty heavy and powerful so I would say 10k miles is low.

Maybe I should qualify by saying 80% motorway, 15% A road and 5% town driving and I am light footed and kind on the brakes.

Well I have to be driving 600 miles a week in a 2.7T!!! It's equivalent to a mortgage in petrol

    10k seems low.

I have the 2.7TDI version; tyres are Michelin Pilot Primacy. The fronts will need to be changed soon, at about 19k miles. I try to drive with a light foot; on the other hand, most of my driving is short-to-medium distances on country roads, with not much motorway use.
