Question on behalf of my father:

How do you remove the engine cover on a 1.2L '03 Polo? It seems to be rather securely attached, and he needs to remove it to change the spark plugs.

    Any help would be appreciated.

i think the placement of the securing pins varies from car to car, but as you look at the cover, there will be some foam/rubber lined holes on the underneath of it, these simply push onto securing pins mounted on the engine block, simply give it a smooth, firm pull on each corner and it should come off, make sure you have removed any securing screws (if there are any!) first though... any more problems, let us know and ill try and get a picture of how to do it on my friends polo

If it is the firs time you are removing the cover, it can be a bit tought to get off. Have a double check to make sure nothing else is securing it as Eshrules suggests, then just pull gently but firmly.
