    Hello all

Had this problem now for a little while, it's been intermittant
and in fact it's getyting better as opposed to worse, but i know this is really
a major problem waiting to happen.
So i need to get it fixed ASAP.
I was wondering though is it possible to buy a second hand servo and MC
of course as long as they are in good condition.
Can you tell is a second hand servo is in good clean condition?
do you need to open it up?

is there anything else to check out before going ahead and changing these two parts?
    maybe pipes or sensors?

    Thanks

A used servo is fine but not a used master cylinder. It is possible to see inside the servo with the M/C removed.

    Hi Crasher

I know you're a bit of a guru, so thanks for the really quick reply.

Is it difficult to open and check or is the process quite easy?

Is a MC from somewhere like euro parts or GSF ok?

And lastly anything to check or try changing before i spend the big money on servo and MC?

    Thanks

Are all the brakes binding or is it just the front or is it the rear ?
Unless you give all the specific symptoms you will not get the help you need .

Just remove the master cylinders two nuts and you can look inside for water damage. An MC from GSF is fine.

    Hello thanks for that Crasher!

It only seems to be the N/S/F brake/wheel that seems to be binding.
its the only one where it feels noticeably hot.
However previously it was the N/S/F and O/S/R that were getting hot.
There is also a sort of squeeking type noise at very very low speeds or when coasting, that is also from N/S/F.

    Thanks

NSF binding is a classic indication of a seized servo.

    Crasher

I've had this issue on and off for a little while now.
I started off being very bad and very noticeable, but it stopped for theb est part of a month and now has come back.
But it's only very slight, i can notice it because i'm looking out for it, but when my wife or a mate has driven it they didnt realise anything was wrong.

I would really expect this to get worse as opposed to only being slight.
Price of a servo from Audi is £300 and £180 from europarts.
cheapest i've seen is £90 for a used servo with 3 months warranty.

In anyone's experience how are mechanics/garages in general with replacing with used parts sourced by the owner.

Need a good place in Slough or Harrow to do the job.

How do restaurants feel about you taking in your own food for them to cook?
