Hi there i changed my diesel filter on my 170tdi (pd engine) last week and couldnt believe how dirty it was it was black.
The car has covered 30000 miles. Its concerning me a bit because iv read else whare that this could be a symptom of leaking pump or injector seals.

Iv just checked the new filter and its quite dirty after 250 miles. I seringed some diesel out of the fuel filter housing but that is clear.

Can anyone tell me if it is normal for a diesel filter to be black after 30000 miles or could it be something more serious. The car is running fine.

    Cheeers iash101
