    Hi people,

    I have been looking through eBay and have found a couple of simple ambient lighting packs on offer. They seem to be just a couple of LED's and a wire with a connector on each.

    Can anybody shed 'light' on this?

    Is it just a case of getting hold of a couple of LEDs, some wire and connectors and drilling a couple of holes in the roof light console?

    Any help would be much appreciated!

    Basically, and without beating about the bush, yes!! Would suggest a switch of some sort in case you dont want them on for whatever reason at some point rather than just hard wiring them into the light circuits.

    This is a common mod with the VW crew - it's known as the W8 dome light mod.

    Basically, the W8 Passat comes with these ambient downlights as standard. They easily fit Passat/Golf/Bora/Polo etc.

    See here for instructions, something tells me it's not quite as simple on the Audi though

    Foxy's W8 Dome Light mod

    Edit;

    Something similar on an A4

    Hmmm, interesting again. I spose I could fit a rocker switch of some kind. If wired correctly, thses should come on with the side lights, correct?

    Many Thanks

    That's right.

    If you also run a wire down to your dashlight rheostat you can have them dim and brighten as you adjust the brightness of your dashboard illumination.

    There is a Audi Part that can be retro fitted into the front reading light panel, Part Number 8E0919063A. It simply connects into the exisitng lighting circuit, only drawback is that you have drill two small holes in the panel. Check out this website for a installation guide:
