How do I take apart my wing mirror?

Im trying to repair a crack in one of my wing mirrors, ive read my articles on how to do it and they always have the mirror out before they start ranting on. I dont want to break anything so could anyone enlighten me on how this can be done step by step and what tools would be required etc.

Tilt the glass up as far as it will go.
Using a plastic ruler, put it under the bottom edge of the glass and pop it off.

That did the Trick, Had to use more force than i though i should. now to tackle the rest!
