    Hi guys

I just bought and installed a sony CDX GT540Ui to replace my original RCD300. But I've had a few issues with it. Firstly it doesnt power up or turn off with the ignition. Have i missed a connection or something? The signal on the radio is also a bit rubbish but i've been told that might be beacuse I didn't connect the aerial to a 12v connection. To be honest i don't know what the 12v connection is and how to connect it
This is the first time i've tried to install my own radio so any help is much appreciated.

If you want the radio to power on/off with the ignition, I believe you need a can-bus emulator - try the Kufatek website.

    Thanks for teh reply MFGF

I've googled the CAN-bus, looks complicated. I was hoping it would just be another wire i had to plug in but cant seem to find anything to buy that would suggest that. Is this something you'd recommend someone whose not really well versed in car electronics start messing around with? Or should i just be happy my I have a radio full stop? I don't suppose anyone could suggest the actual part I would need as I'm getting a bit lost in all this.

EDIT: Done a bit more reading into the subjuct. Would this part do the job? http://shop.audioimages.co.uk/connec...er-p-3150.html

Does the wiring harness for the radio just plug into that before connection to the headunit or is there something more complex involved?
