    Hi all.

Have seen a 1.9 TDI SE for sale it would be ex lease full history 65 ish k 1st reg Aug 2006 manual estate.
    It is up for £7080.

Does this sound like a good price/ deal for the mileage.
When does the cambelt need doing on these.

Are there likely to be any issues at 65k?.

    Thanks.
    Steve

Price sounds good for an estate, and one with the most reliable diesel engine in the VAG range... Cambelt may be one thing you do sooner rather than later, just to be on the safe side. At least you won't have the 2.0 TDI balancer shaft/oil pump issues to worry about.

With a 1.9 you shouldn't face to many issues. Especially not the issues the 2.0 get. SE spec has everything you would need including aircon and cruise control. Cambelt I think is 80k or 4 years so it would be due soon.

Yes, the cambelt is due at 4 years. To give an idea of costs, VW offer fixed price servicing for the cambelt change at £299, or £399 including changing the water pump at the same time. Maybe haggle with the dealer to get it changed as part of the deal.

i was of the impression that the belt change interval
was 60k, or 4yrs, so i would put this to the garage,as suggested above,
    other than that,it sounds great,
    good luck,

Cheers everyone, It's still out on lease, however got a bit more info.
Cambelt has been changed at 65k and some work on the gearbox.
It appears to have been serviced at 15,30,50 and 65k approx.

Am i right in thinking 18k service intervals?

Last question, I am guessing that the water pump wasn't changed with the belt, are pumps an issue on these or is it just a case of one of those that some people change whilst they are in there and some don't.

I have reserved the car and will get the fee back if i decide not to proceed when it comes in and get to view it.
    Cheers for help so far.

That sounds about right for a lease car on variable long-life servicing.

The service history should show you exactly what was done and when. The cambelt is the important one though that needs doing as they can cause significant damage if they let go, hence the precautionary change at 60K/4yrs.

I believe there was some issue with the water pump, so some choose to have it changed at the same time as it adds very little to the labour when changing the cambelt, but would otherwise be a bigger job if needed doing by itself. Hopefully someone can tell you what the issue(s) are/were with the water pump.
