I foolishly allowed my battery to become almost completely discharged today whilst polishing the car - doors open, cd on etc. Anyway i jump started it and everything is ok now apart from the driver display thing which is now all in german. Can anyone please let me know how to reset to English. The car is a 2004 A4 3.0 Quattro Sport.

You will need VCDS to fix it, you need to reprogram the cluster.
Look at this page - http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index...8E2/8E5/8H7%29

Your 5th digit needs to be changed to number 4.

Thanks benjie, you're obviously far more technically knowledgable than me but - what is a 'VCDS' and where do i find one to complete th task of resetting the language?

Also it sounds like your car is very nice, but what is a 'CCV Catch Can'

    Thanks for your help.

VCDS is the Vag-Com Diagnostic Software suite from Ross-Tech. It installs on your computer and can be used to scan/reprogram the various control modules of your car. The software download is free, but the cable is expensive - around £270. There are various forum members who have VCDS - it's worth asking in the VCDS section of the forum to see if there's anyone near you who would be willing to help. Failing that, if you fancy a bit of a drive to North Staffs, I'd be happy to make this change for you.

    Cheers!
