Just had my 2001 Audi A4 MOT done for free at West London Audi.
I was really very skeptical, thinking they would try and stuff me for something.
But the car passed the MOT with no repairs needed.
They even cleaned the car in and out for me for free!
Have to say it is a lovely showroom, the guys in there are not rude but not exactly friendly.
But hey i got what i needed for nothing so shouldn't complain.

Lots of threads about this on various forums. Ditto with your experience, had 2 MOT's now, both with excellent service and for free!

I checked my local dealer and they will do a free MOT if I pay for a service.

How do you work it so you get the MOT for free? I am in the Edinburgh area and my car is just coming up for its MOT now.

    Appreciate any info.

They are either lying or unaware of the offer... Check here- http://www.audi.co.uk/owners-area/se.../free-mot.html

They are neither lying nor unaware of the terms of the offer: Your link to their website included:

Option 1: Free MOT every year
Yes, it’s that simple. As an Audi owner you can now benefit from having your MOT tests carried out for free every year*. All you need to do is service your Audi with us when it is due, taking advantage of a full service for £249 or an interim service for £99.

It used to be free but presumably they got fed up with too many people using them as a free MOT testing station when there was no likelihood of building the relationship into one that might ultimately result in a future car sale or maintenance work. No such thing as a free lunch!

Unless you're doing the servicing yourself, I reckon 99 quid all in for an interim service with MOT from an Audi dealer with a free valet thrown in isn't bad at all. I got mine done recently at Wimbledon Audi and I'd certainly use them again.

I'd agree with you on this and have had positive experiences from my own local Audi dealer.

I do find it strange, from following the different forums, how many people seem to think that just because they bought a used Audi that this somehow entitles them to 'red carpet' treatment every time they visit an Audi dealer, particularly when they bought their car outside of the dealer network.

The fixed price servicing and free MOT are promotional offers designed to get owners of older cars into the dealerships presumably in the hope that, if you have a positive experience, they may develop a longer term relationship with you for servicing or even buying your next car.

Changing the offer so that you only get a free MOT if you have a service at the same time perhaps helps to filter out the freeloaders who have no intention of ever using the dealer for anything else. Why would a dealer want to waste valuable workshop resources doing freebies with no prospect of any future work. As you say, £99 for an interim service, MOT and car clean from a main dealer is not a bad deal.

Sorry about that, missed the changed offer. Guess I was lucky getting 2 for free!

well i only had mine done the other day so i think the offrr must still be on.
i think your audi needs to have been serviced at some point by an audi dealer
to be eligible fr the offer.
the dealership usually doesnt do the MOT anyway, it some local place they have some agreement with.

anyway i'm sure they usee it as a promoion to get more people in,
but why not we take advantage of an offer from the dealer

its not a case of wanting a red carpet treatment at a dealership but i think most people usually just wanted to be treated nicely and not feel as if they're getting ripped off
