hi peeps, hoping you can help with a v6 4 motion? Fault is that it turns, starts, splutters and dies.

I have had the old diagnostics on it and there are three error codes I get without fail:

    17750-35 kwp1281
ignition coil power output stage 1 short to plus:P1342
    17752-35 kwp1281
ignition coil power output stage 2 short to plus:P1344
    17754-35 kwp1281
ignition coil power output stage 3 short to plus:P1346

with a little research the extensions to these are "short to b+" what ever that is?

I originally thought the issue was immobiliser issue, but i would expect to see the icon with a car and a key turn up?

By the sounds of how it goes, its as if its not getting enough fuel, or its misfiring, or lack of air.

It has had a new coil pack, new alternator, this is trying to start from being jump started, its just had its timing done and has been to vw (they couldnt find the problem) and many electrical people one of which found voltage to the coil pack i think was low? which comes directly off the alternator...but it would be as its not running right?

    thanks in advanced...

Had its timing done? What do you mean, has it had new timing chains? What year and engine code is it?

Thanks for the reply crasher! Eninge code I think strts in 1j wont know anymore till tonight. Basically the chain went slack and slipped then the engine back fired through the manifold and blew it's lid. That's al been sorted out now by vw bu it's original fault still exists as posted earlier

well turns out its the distributer, although replaced with what we thought was a new one, was more faultier than the old one! So now we have just an intermittent misfire on 1.

thanks for the reply though. there was also an issue with the wiring under the battery being warn away by that stupid cable tidy!!

coil pack distributer. looks more like a distributor to me, but its the coil pack. its all in one block anyway and distributes the power electronically...

    anyway, all fixed now.
