  1. Rear door not opening

    Hi,
My rear passenger door will not open from the outside after unlocking the central locking system but after opening from the inside works fine until the car is locked again.
Has anyone else had this problem or know what could be causing it.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

It's the cable from the handle to the lock. Search the forum for repair, it's here somewhere.

Do a search. The remedy is on here. You cable tie the opening cable in place so it doesn't keep jumping out of the slot. There is a thread with pictures.

Seems like my post dissappeared so here goes (You might have tried this already...for the 1st day I had my car I was wondering what was wrong could only open the other doors from the inside)

When you unlock the car are you pressing the unlock botton once?

If yes you need to press it twice sequentially

Post back if this don't work

P.S. if you have full MFD you should be able to change this it should be something like driver lock if you have half MFD you will need VAG.COM I'm afraid. Someone on here will have one if you don't and I'm susre they'll be more than happy to disable this option for you if you do not want it if not it is off to the dealers/independent garage I'm afraid

    Thanks for the replies,
    esse_esse...
I pressed the remote twice as the othe passengers doors all open frome the outside but the strange thing about it al is that after you open the dodgy door fromthe inside once it opens until the next time you lock the car.
    martin1810...
If it was a cable would the door not operate at all from the outside ?

    thanks again and regards

No the sliping cable produces just what you describe. The outerpart of the cable slips and the door wont open. Opening from the inside then tugs it back in place. Eventually it will slip off and not go back and you will be stuck with a door that doesn't open.
