    Hi Mate

its not a bulb but an LED unit>

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Genuine-VW...es_CarParts_SM

LED's last awful long time, so dont be too fixed on thinking its definatley the LED.

these things are ridiculously simple to change!! i would advise getting one from a Friendly VW dealer (around £40), try it in to see if it works, if the new unit doesnt work you sir have a problem with the control unit (aka relay unit) in the door or the wiring. (note i said friendly dealer, you can take it back and say you got the wrong part by mistake and you may get your money back)

The indicator is driven by the controller in the door. You will need a. Vcds cable to change that part. I would suggest a fault code scan to help identify the problem

hate to be dull but, it was the led unit as evidenced by a tiny light flashing in the end of the flasher light.I bought a unit from tps(£18.50 + vat) which ,if that'.s ridiculously easy the fit then..... (I've only been a mechanic for 34 years) anyway, the clips you break off taking the mirror back off are on the new led unit, which saves tears. Also,VW have sold "quite a few" so even though leds are tough, they are only as good as the board they are mounted on!
