Bought A3 2.0 tdi, 06 plate from Audi Dealer 3 months ago, after a week noticed when air con was used there was not a very nice smell, so took it back, I was told it needed air con refresh, so I paid to have it done.
I was told to use air con or it would come back, did what I was told.
Due to a lot of rain today I used the heater, and guess what, now it smells
when heater is on. Taking it back in the morning.
Has anyone else had this problem?

just re-gassing the air con will not get rid of the smell, we use a disinfectant type spray that goes up the water drain hole of the air con and removes the bacteria from the system.

Normally a dealer air con service is a re-gas & an anti-bac spray, but if the system hasn't been done before it may need another dose. Take it back, I'm sure they will sort it.

One thing to try is the next time you have the car out for a decent run, turn the heater up to the maximum setting with the air con on for at least 10 minutes (longer if you can stand it!). This should kill off any bacteria in the system.

Thanks guys car goes back in next week, they think air con has never been serviced in 4 years. The dealer as told me they need to do more than just a refresh. They are doing the work free of charge, thats nice to hear.
Will try max settings with air con on.
Thanks again guys for your help.
