    Hello,

After reading some posts here re using an HDD to connect to the AMI, I finally managed to get an external 320 Gb 2.5" HDD to sync with the 3G MMI and all my music seems to work fine.

However, I notice that the green access light is lit permanently on the drive, even with the ignition off and the vehicle locked and I can feel the drive spinning. Is this normal? I'm obviously worried that, after a certain period, I'll be left with a flat battery.

    Many Thanks

    Mark

    Mark,

I asked the same question on here a while back (i'd add the post if i knew how to) and was informed that the HDD powers down after a certain amount of time. To be honest i have not had the chance to test this yet and i don't know whether it is the HHD or the car that actually powers down (if it really matters). Try leaving the car locked for 5-10min and have a look to see if the light is still on, making sure that you keep an eye on it in case someone puts your window through and runs off with your Wham collection

    Monty,

Thanks for the prompt reply. You're quite correct. I left the car for a while and looked through the window to the open glove box. The green access light was out so it did power down - allbeit after a while.

    Thanks

Could be linked to the delay before the car turns off the audio system to save power, if you're sat in the car with the engine off for example.
