    Morning all!

After getting excited yesterday about the prospect of installing a remote central locking kit after payday, I went in search of my central locking pump to see if it was located where I thought it was, behind the righthand side panel in the boot.
On finding it, I stupidly disconnected it (leaving the power cable connected last, and then installing it first as stated on a sticker on the pump).
I cleaned the contacts, put it back together and it worked beautifully, was much quicker to lock/unlock than before.

When I came out to my car this morning I found the doors unlocked. I opened the front door and set the alarm off.
    The boot locks normally.
Using the key in either door or the boot will lock and unlock the boot, but the doors remain unlocked!

Any idea's as to what's wrong would be hugely appreciated!

Is it necessary to reset the C/L system after the pump has been disconnected?

Ahh, what a nightmare!! I managed to head out to the car park for a cup of tea earlier.
When I left my car this morning I put the key in the lock and turned it. The doors didn't lock but the alarm did set.
When I went out to have a look a minute ago the doors were locked and wouldn't unlock!!
    Luckily the boot unlocked!

Had a look at the vacuum pump, the hose connected to it is solid so it cant kink, but there's a 90degree connector between the hose and the pump, made of flexible rubber, that had kinked itself!

Whipped it apart, put it back together, settled it in the car better (spun the pump around 180 from original position) and it all works fine.

    How much hassle?!

    It works.

I hate the pump idea for the locks.
dont see the benefite of it over electric locks.

Yeah, I'm so glad it was something simple, not sure I could cope with any more issues! It's the usual game all going wrong at once! My throttle body's being replaced tomorrow, I've just swapped my wheels front to back as the tyres are pretty bald, I've just started hearing a knocking which sounds like I've got 1 or both ball joints gone on the front...!

I could well be wrong but I think the advantage is that there's only one motor (powering the pump) that can go wrong and is therefore easier to replace.

Unless you get a hole in the line.

I had a door lock that I recently fixed as a part of a new window regulator job. The handle stopped working a few days later.

It turned out the retaining screw had unscrewed itself and had decided to hide itself in the door pocket.

Nothing I did wrong you understand, it did it all by itself
