Hi all ... i am new to this forum and was hoping i could get some help from you. i have currently started a new job which pays well ... only being 18 the insurance is stupidly high but i REALLY want an audi as its 25miles to my work and 25miles back. now my dad has full no claims and i seem to find decent quotes (for me £2800) woth me as a named driver. And i understand after watching top gear (lol) ... and doing some reasearch that the new audi's are really well on saving fuel ... i was looking at this particular A4 on autotrader and hoping to get finance on it

let me know what you all think

    Thanks, Phil

Go and see the car as it looks mint and if its in good order, drives well and has FSH buy it.

It will save you loads in the long run with the commute you have.

I bought a A4 B7 on a 06 reg last year with 120K on it its now on 148K and runs sweet with no probs at all and gives me super fuel economy.
    Audi A4 B7 2.0 Tdi S Line 170.

Out of interest have you done a quote on an SE. I'm curious what the premium difference is between SE and S-Line.

Also driving as the main driver on your dad's insurance is known as fronting and is technically illegal- have you tried quotes with your mum and dad as named drivers on your own policy- it can bring the price down and you get the added bonus of getting your own no claims built up.

Also try Bell Insurance- they are who I am with and are pretty good for young drivers with no NCB, they offer a 10 month accelerator scheme.

Other than that- the A4 is a brill car and if you do get one you will be very happy indeed

Thanks for both your replies ... i can see where you are coming from with the insurance being technically illegal my brother was on my dads insurance with a 182 clio sport and had to end up going on his own insurance ... its pointless going on my mums ... as i was on her insurance in the first year of driving and crashed her car "no damage to her car" and she lost her no claims ... but dad has MNCB ... so hence why i am with him ... i will try and get a quote for bell insurance.... however im stuck in abit of a rut ... as my cousin tells me i would suit an A3 better the 2.0 TDI sport (140BHP) ... as they suit younger drivers better ... he said (without causing offence) ... that an a4 is for more an older person with a family etc... if i was to get the A3 i would most certainly get it remapped @ Awesome GTI as it can get it upto 170BHP so it will be the same as the SE .... the SE was around £500 dearer on insurance.

This is the A3 i have been recommended by my cousin

If i were you i would just get a sensible car and start my own insurance policy. You have to build up to these things. If your father gets a policy and puts you on as a named driver you will be stuffed should you need to make a claim and you are breaking the law pure and simple. It is as Clint said 'Bonkers'!

Thanks for your comment Crmason ... for me "although my dad will use the car aswell as me" a sensible car ... as everyone at my company has business type cars and im here pulling up in a clio ... i believe for me an audi would do well ... and with abit of spare cash i can keep my clio rotting on the path and build up no claims on that with insurance from another company i dont mind doing that

Im sorry to say it but my only advice would be just to drop the word quick all together. You can get some nice executive looking cars with smaller diesel engines. They still look the part, get great economy and will be a lot cheaper to buy, insure, tax, keep etc Plus if you get a smaller car (lighter weight) with a smaller engine then it will still be pretty quick… Just a thought. It is your money after all.
