Hi, hopefully you good people can point me in the right direction. i have a 2007 Mazda 3 TS2 1.6 petrol (38,550miles). im looking to trade/swap for a 1.9 TDI BORA pref 2005 onward (6 speed box), anything i should look out for problem wise? i need a diesel as im doing lots of mileage now and the fuel costs are starting to get a bit much.

I have looked at various GOLF's but the boot space is larger in the bora. and to be honest i do like the BORA look.

any help/ advice would be greatly apreciated (is it 1-p or double-p in apreciated? lol) i think its two

    kind regards ade.

ps. i hope ive posted this in the right place....probably not

    Hi Ade,

I used to own a Bora SE. Did 125,000 miles in it before i traded in for a Jetta. Bora is a very good car indeed. I had the 130bhp version which is the one to go for. Easily acheive 50mpg and if taken gently will do 60mpg. Problems i had was the intercooler needed to be replaced as it was cracked. Tell tale sign is oil collecting on the underneath of the intercooler and dripping on your driveway! intercooler is located in the bumper on the drivers side. This happened after 100k. Also had turbo pipe blow off at around 50k. Rear bushes were needing replacing at the point i traded it in! Also the Bora comes with auto dimming rear view. make sure it isn't broken. You'll know when you look at it if you see what looks like a big darker bubble then it's not working, can still see in it but won't dim at night. To replace is £200+ for a genuine part.
It is a superb car, traded it in as i had it for 8 years and wanted a new toy to play with.
