    Hi Everyone,

    I have got a MK3 Golf 1.8 Driver 1995 M reg, 154000 on the clock.

After driving for a while when i stop at the traffic light or anywhere on idle i can feel that engine shacking and vibrating bit too much,

is that a normal thing for a older engine or is there are something i can do to make it not happen?

Not very long ago i have changed the engine mount so it cant be that and i do regular service and cleaned the throttel body and air hoses.

Please feel free to give me ideas what could be.

    Thanks

    Vasi

4 Cylinder engines have a naturally unstable oscillation at idle anyway, so at low revs you will notice it more.

That being said, how is your idle? is it steady?

Is it weather related? External temperature? since its been quite warm anyway. Any strange noises? Exhaust flow ok?

It may be running a little rich, which can make your idle a bit funky anyway from my experience.

Give your coolant/lambda a once over, maybe check your intake sensor while youre at it, check the readings are realistic and consistent with your ambients.

Any smoke from the exhaust? any might mean you havea loss of compression somewhere, but I would expect this would affect the idle, unless every cylinder is down on compression

If your idle is ok, and everything is running as normal, it may be an engine mount loose or something mechanical anyway, but then again its one of those things that are hard to diagnose because its based on peoples opinion of 'excessive vibration'

Check the hose to the inlet manifold from the servo, they often split.

    Hi Guys,

    Thans for the replyies,

Crasher, could you please tell me how do i find the hose to the inlet manifold & where dose is located my engine code is ADZ.

Sammo VWT, first if all i dont see any idleing problem its runs fine, Could you please give me a clear instruction how to replace the lampda sensors.

I do have little bit of smoke when i start the car first thing in the morning, its smells like burned oil.

And when i start the engine in the moring i can hear blowing sound coming from exhaust manifold bit but, its goes away whith in minutes.

    Any ideas on that?

Thanks for ur help in advance

    Vasi

The hose is a 22-mm diameter rubber elbow going to a port on the side of the inlet manifold for cylinder four.

The ADZ only has one lambda sensor which is screwed into the exhaust manifold, do not replace this unless you can prove it is faulty with a fault code read and some studying of live data. An air leak from the pipe I have mentioned will give a lambda fault code.

A leaking exhaust can also upset the lambda sensor.
