    Hi All,
I decided to make a "How To " whilst I was replacing my Mass Air Flow meter this morning, for the benefit of other members.

Firstly to highlight, this is the M A F Unit It's self.

Step 1: Disconnect the power cable at the top of the MAF Unit

Step 2 : Take out the Screws at either side, holding the Unit onto the Air box. I could use a standard Philips for mine, yours may require a Torx style driver.

Step 3 : Move the clip holding the MAF onto the flexible pipe, some find this tricky, I found this very easy with some long nosed plyers, I Just open the clip enough to remove the old MAF, and put the new one in place. and released the clip again. Simple.

Step 4 : Close the clip again, and make sure the new M.A.F is held in tightly.

Step 5 : Take the blanc cover off the other end and stick it in the other side of the airbox.

Step 6: Screw back in, I twisted the Maf slightly to ensure the hols lines up, if you put the MAF unit in and the holes will not line up, Open the clip again and turn the MAF slightly.

Step 7: Re Connect the power again.

    FINISHED

I did this in under 5 mins in the bloody rain, really easy to do. Boy does it make a different, took her for a spin afterwards, no problems up to 100mph ( she struggled to hit 90 before )
Smooth, accelleration, with NO flat spots whats so ever.

If your thinking of doing it, don't put it off. Do it now.

is this possible on both petrol and diesel engines?

There may well be a wire, but there will also be a MAF of some kind, attached the the air box in some way.

    I can't believe the difference.
